Beloved was such an enjoyable read that became quite intense and emotionally charged. The premise of this story is common, but it went far beyond the norm. It is in fact a story of second chance love but also about forgiveness. It's a journey of a woman overcoming past hurts, learning to trust, love and forgive. I immediately felt a connection to Catherine, her best friend Ashton and of course Jackson. I felt Catherine's hurt and apprehension. I was taken aback by Ashton's friendship and dedication to Catherine. She's a true best friend. And there there's sexy former Navy Seal Jackson who is quite versatile in his career and treats Catherine with such devotion.
Catherine is living her life as a successful publicist with some serious daddy issues. Her father walked out on her when she was nine years old. She adored him and was left literally heartbroken. Fast forward to the present and Catherine finds out that her fiancé is cheating on her. She just wants to be loved, but every guy who she encounters ends up breaking her heart.
Jackson and Catherine's meeting and relationship is funny, sweet and super sexy. I felt giddy while reading and experiencing their attraction. This couple is not all sweets though and sometimes their actions are down right frustrating as they try to work through issues. So yes there's angst that kept me on the edge of my seat.
This is Corinne Michael's debut novel, but you wouldn't know it! This author writes in such a way that creates vivid pictures in your mind of not only the characters, but also the settings. She introduces us to this emotional, sexy romance story that has such depth and will have you begging for more at the end. This is book one in the Belonging series and thus ends on a cliffhanger. So I'm patiently waiting to jump on book two as soon as it's released!

He weaves his fingers with mine and guides me toward the windows.
“I used to come up here after my run in the mornings,” he says quietly as we look out at the horizon.
“So you worked out and then climbed the stairs? By choice?” I ask with a raised brow.
His throaty laugh echoes through the building as he steps closer to me. “Not all of us find exercise dumb. There are lots of activities that can be”—he coughs and smiles—“enjoyable.”
Jackson’s playful grin causes my eyes to widen and my cheeks to flush. Him and his mouth!
“Well, only if you do it right.” I smile and slap him across the chest.
“I always do it right,” he says as he walks past me.
“I’m sure you do.” I mutter beneath my breath hoping he doesn’t hear.
“What was that?”
Of course he heard me.
“Nothing. Just admiring the view.” I lie and stare out the window.
