J. Hooligan
Hello! I’m Jude, the owner and crazy person behind Platypire Reviews. I created the blog back in early January as a way for me to show my appreciation to authors and other bloggers, while finding an excuse to read the way too many books I go through each month. We’re an open genre blog, as there are four of us who review for the blog. We’re all different people, so we all like
different books.
I’m a platypire addict, mother, wife, book lover, review writer, goodreads librarian, beta reader, aspiring writer, nanny, and professional hooligan.
As to how I came into this community… I was forced into downloading an ereader for my phone a couple years ago. The rest is history.
I have a list of authors that I heckle on a near daily basis as their unoffical PA, but only Nely Cab has wooed me enough to get me to give into her whims and work with her. I am also the newest person over at Juniper Grove Book Solutions. If you are ever looking for a tour, mention my name there and Jaidis will give you a $5 discount on whatever you want.
I’m always looking for ways to make things more interesting, and I love to help. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to message me. If I can’t help, I probably know someone who can.

November of 2013 was a beautiful day, maybe even a little hot and I dragged my 13 year old and her best friend to an author signing. I went early in the morning to see all the YA authors for the girls and then had lunch and waited for my turn to meet the NA/ Erotica/ Romance authors which is my genre of choice. While waiting around, I ran into JUDE who was a reviewer for a different site, made her hug me and talked her ear off. We hung around and one of the authors that I was dying to meet, was right behind me and when Jude said, “so and so is right behind you,” I had a total FAN GIRL, could not breath moment. ANYWAY, I met Jude and AMAZING authors that day and they changed my life.
In Jan of 2014, Jude contacted me and asked me to join Platypire Reviewers to help her and become a reviewer, which I jumped at…FREE BOOKS!!!! YAY ME!!! Never imaged it would lead to the wonderful joys that I have found in connecting with authors, readers, bloggers, street team admins and pr personal. After having an amazing connection with Jay Crownover, Jude building my confidence in talking to famous people, and a couple more meetings, I created CROWNOVER’s CROWD to help connect all her fans with all her whereabouts and happenings and all I can say is I LOVE MY JOB. I have made some GREAT friends along the way and do all that I can do in a day to bring you my opinions about all the books I read. Reading and books make me giddy and no matter where I go, they are my connection.

When I was asked to write a blurb about myself, I really didn't know where to begin. I think the best place to start is to state that I've loved to read books since I was little. Maybe it's because my mom read to me practically every single night. I remember when she read the Little House on the Prairie books to me, along with others as well, including the Burgess books, which featured animals as characters. I think she might have read Heidi to me at one point too, but that was many years ago and I can't remember for sure.
Through high school and college, I continued to read, and found that one genre I loved was fantasy, particularly the Forgotten Realms books, with the ones about Drizzt by R.A. Salvatore being among the books I liked the best at the time. I also took 3 literature courses too, in American Lit, English/British Lit, and World Lit. To say that my horizons expanded then is accurate, and it still is.
Five years ago, I met Jude on a different website, and two years ago she joined up with another blog. She kept talking about all these books she had read, and I got to thinking: I could probably do this too. Since then, I followed her to Platypire Reviews. Between the two, I've been introduced to the indie writing community, and I've discovered there are a lot of amazing authors out there. If I had to name some, Cassiel Knight, Kate Roth, Nely Cab, Rose Garcia, Matt Schiariti, Megan Squires, J. Hamlet, and Jon Messenger are among those that came to mind first.
That's a little bit about me, but I want to really thank Jude in this for helping to seriously reignite my love for reading. This year alone (as of the time I've written this,) I've read 75 books.

I'm Bob, a stay-at-home-mom, book lover, writer, and evil minion. Did I say evil minion? I mean minion of pure goodness! I'm new at reviewing, but try my best. My favorite genres are horror and paranormal, but I'll read just about anything in front of me.
