So I sit a few days after finishing Finding Forever and find myself still so emotionally attached to this story, especially Lacey & Brant. As indicated in the author's note, this book is based on true events and is a highly emotional story. I'm not sure I was ready for this story to have such an emotional impact on me, but it has.
Reading Lacey's story after being introduced to her in Guarding Hearts, was such a journey. The prologue is downright heartbreaking and I found myself in need of tissues! Again, I don't think I was emotionally prepared. Lacey is honoring her mother's memory and caring for animals as a veterinarian. Lacey saw what her mother's death did to her father and she doesn't want to even think about putting someone through that. Brant and Lacey's chance meeting puts these two on such an unforgettable path. Was it fate? Oh I believe so!
I'm not sure I initially connected with Lacey, but her story had me wanting to know more. So I have to admit in the beginning I may have been sympathizing with her, but that quickly turned into such admiration, respect and honor for what she not only endured by losing her mother at a young age, but also what she has to overcome as a young woman.
I know we all read for different reasons. Mainly for enjoyment and to take us away from our crazy daily lives. But sometimes there are stories that resonate for one reason or another. They touch you and leave an impact. This is that story of me. Finding Forever is so real, honest and gut wrenching. Lacey could be me or my girlfriend. She represents many women. LL Collins brings these characters to life in this amazing story that's heartfelt and heartbreaking. Sometimes life isn't fair and we are dealt a bad hand. But this story not only shows us the heartbreaks, but also teaches us about unconditional love. Absolutely LOVED it!!
