Is it possible to find your soul mate on the other side of the world?
Beth Johnson is an ambitious high school senior from suburban California with a secret passion for writing. David Somers is a charming young Englishman who wants nothing more than to play guitar in his up-and-coming rock band. Though worlds apart, when fate brings Beth and David together in London in the summer of 1979, sparks fly. After Beth receives upsetting news from home, she finds herself drawn to David’s warm character, and an all-consuming love develops. Theirs is the kind of love one never forgets, and as Beth’s stay in London nears the end, the young devoted couple must face the inevitable question: will their romance fade with the passing of summer or will they realize their promise of never letting go?
This is the first installment of a four-book series, Faithfully Yours, chronicling Beth and David's romantic journey.
This is a beautifully written story of young love that I truly enjoyed. I found the premise interesting especially because it's set in the summer of 1979 and a portion of the story takes place in London. The story is told by Beth Johnson as she looks back on her senior year of high school.
Beth is about the begin the summer before her senior year. She's excited about spending time with her friends and boyfriend. That is until her parents decide to drop a bomb that they will be visiting family in England for the summer. She would rather spend her summer with her friends and at her home in California.
This story is fun to read. It has a air of innocence that made it appealing. Beth and her family begin their summer in England visiting relatives. Beth has a cousin Jenny who is the same age and the two makes plans to hang. Prior to leaving California, Beth has a fight with her boyfriend which leaves her with uncertainty about the status of their relationship. This puts an even greater damper on the trip and beginning of summer.
While out with the family in London, Beth has a chance meeting with David. David is a guitarist and part of a rock bank. Beth sees David checking her out and of course there is this instant attraction between the two. Things start out friendly, but it's obvious with them both that their feelings are becoming deeper than they want to admit. They have a connection which is hard to resist.
David and Beth are swept up in young love, but what happens when Beth has to return to the States once summer is over? Will this be the end? Never Let Go reads like a classic romance. I never grew bored and always wanted more. These two will face many obstacles. Being an ocean apart is huge, but then there's also David's budding career with his band. It's a pleasant story and I'm so excited that this is a series that will follow David and Beth. I can't wait to see how the story continues to play out!
Anne Carol grew up reading, writing, and listening to English rock bands, obsessing over one in particular. Continuing her fascination with rock stars, she married a bass player and they now have two sons, also budding musicians. Besides reading, writing, and music, she also loves traveling, going to dance class, watching teen dramas, and exploring social media websites. Anne lives in Northern California, where she enjoys wine and chocolate every night as she works on her next novel.
