As spring sinks into her namesake season on the Florida coastline, Summer plays the odds and downloads a new dating app - and after one intriguing message from a beautiful surfer named Cooper Nichols, it becomes clear that the story of what may be her last few months under the sun is about to be completely revised. All she has to do now is write something worth reading.
Tender, honest, devastating and triumphant, The Summer Remains explores a very human battle being waged in a very digital age: the search for a love that will outlast this temporary borrowing of bones. In an era when many feel compelled to share and re-share anything about everything, prepare to feel a love so special, you will want to hug it close and make it yours forever.
Oh Seth King what have you done to me? My goodness, The Summer Remains was beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time. My feelings are all over the place. This story touched me in so many ways. Summer touched me. She's the type of girl that you admire and just want to be around. As you can tell from the synopsis, this story is going to be emotional and that it was.
Summer Johnson is suffering from a medical condition that she's been dealing with since birth. She has been able to live, but not a normal life. As she begins to prepare for a surgery that could repair her condition or worse, Summer decides that she doesn't want to waste her summer just waiting on what may happen. She wants to enjoy her days and fall in love. It's the dream of many girls so why shouldn't she dare to dream also?
Summer Remains is a beautifully written story of hope, love and daring to dream. I loved Summer's love of life and the will to live that life to the fullest. She's the epitome of strength. When Summer meets Cooper, of course she's skeptical and hesitant, but she doesn't let that stop her. I loved how this book portrayed not only a heartbreaking ending, but also the sweet and intimate love story of Summer and Cooper. It's a romantic and soul searching kind of story that leaves an impression. Solid 4 Star read!
